Step 1: Go to Manage Trip or My Trips
To add your Known Traveler Number (KTN) to a Frontier Airlines reservation, go to Manage Trip on flyfrontier.com or My Trips in the Frontier app, then update your traveler details with the KTN/PASS ID. This is the only place Frontier directs you to add it—not through account settings.

Your Known Traveler Number is issued to passengers approved for TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI after a background check. Adding it to your reservation ensures your expedited screening benefits apply to that specific flight, so you can keep your shoes, belt, light outerwear, laptop, and travel-size liquids in place at security checkpoints.
You can add the KTN to a new booking at purchase, or later through Manage Trip (website) or My Trips (app). You can also save it to your Frontier profile for future bookings, but the reservation itself must be updated through Manage Trip or My Trips before check-in.
Step 2: Sign in to Your Frontier Account
Before you can update traveler details, sign in to your Frontier Airlines account. If you don’t have one, create it first—you’ll need it to manage bookings online.
To sign in:
- Open your web browser and go to flyfrontier.com.
- Click the "Sign In" button at the top right of the homepage.
- Enter your email address and password.
- Click "Sign In" again to access your account.
If you’ve forgotten your password, click "Forgot Password?" and follow the reset instructions. Once signed in, proceed to Manage Trip or My Trips to add your KTN.
Step 3: Access Manage Trip or My Trips
After signing in, go to Manage Trip on the website or My Trips in the app. Do not look for account settings or a profile icon—Frontier routes KTN additions through the trip management tools only.
To access the correct section:
- On flyfrontier.com, find "Manage Trip" in the top menu or on your account dashboard.
- In the app, tap "My Trips" from the home screen.
- Select the reservation you want to update.
- You may need to enter your confirmation code and last name if you’re not automatically signed in.
Once you’re in the correct trip, look for the traveler details section. This is where you’ll add or edit the KTN/PASS ID.
Step 4: Update Traveler Details with Your KTN
Within Manage Trip or My Trips, find the passenger’s name or traveler details. Click "Edit" or "Update" next to that section. You’ll see a field labeled "Known Traveler Number" or "KTN/PASS ID" — enter your number exactly as it appears on your TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI documentation.
Double-check the number for typos. A single wrong digit can prevent your expedited screening from appearing on your boarding pass. If you’re unsure where to enter it, Frontier’s customer support can guide you, but the field is always within the traveler details of the trip you’re managing.
The KTN is tied to the passenger, not the flight. If you’re traveling with others, each person must have their own KTN added to their own traveler profile within the reservation.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
After entering your KTN, look for a "Save" or "Update" button within the Manage Trip or My Trips traveler details section. Click it and wait for the system to confirm the change.
Once saved, review the reservation to confirm the KTN appears correctly. Check again before check-in opens—usually 24 hours before departure—to make sure nothing was lost during system updates.
If you booked through a third party, such as a travel agency or online booking site, you may need to locate my reservation on Expedia or the original booking portal first, then use the airline’s Manage Trip tool with the confirmation code provided.
What If You Booked Before Adding a KTN?
If you already have a Frontier reservation and didn’t add your KTN at booking, you can still add it later—as long as you do so before check-in closes. Frontier’s system applies the KTN to the reservation in real time, so there’s no need to cancel and rebook.
For future bookings, you can save your KTN to your Frontier profile so it auto-fills on new reservations. To do that, go to your account’s "Travelers" or "Profile" section, enter the KTN once, and it will be available for future trips. This saved number only applies to new bookings—it does not retroactively update existing ones. You must still add it to each existing reservation via Manage Trip or My Trips.
What If You’re Flying Soon?
If your flight is within 24 hours, you can still add your KTN through Manage Trip or My Trips, but you may also need to check in at the airport to ensure it’s applied correctly. Frontier’s airport agents can verify your KTN and issue a boarding pass with TSA PreCheck indicated, if you’re eligible.
If you’re already at the airport and your boarding pass doesn’t show TSA PreCheck, visit the ticket counter or gate agent. They can manually add the KTN to your record if it’s missing. You’ll need your KTN and a government-issued ID.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
One common mistake is entering the KTN in the wrong field. Frontier’s Manage Trip tool has a specific field for "KTN/PASS ID" — don’t confuse it with your Frontier frequent flyer number or your passport number.
Another mistake is assuming the KTN carries over to all future bookings automatically. It doesn’t. You must add it to each reservation individually, or save it to your profile and then apply it when booking. If you forget, you can always go back and edit the trip before check-in.
A KTN is not the same as a Redress Number. If you have both, enter them in the appropriate fields—KTN for TSA PreCheck, Redress for additional screening resolution.
What About International Travel?
If you’re flying internationally with Frontier, your KTN still applies to TSA PreCheck on the outbound U.S. segment. For return flights from abroad, TSA PreCheck generally doesn’t apply, but Global Entry members can use Global Entry kiosks for U.S. Customs upon arrival—that’s separate from your KTN.
If you have Global Entry, your Known Traveler Number is the same as your Global Entry number. Enter it in the KTN field, and you’ll get TSA PreCheck on domestic segments of international itineraries, subject to TSA and airline participation.
If You Need Help
Frontier’s customer support can assist if you run into issues adding your KTN. You can reach them via phone, chat, or social media. Have your confirmation code and KTN handy when you call.
If you’re on the app and can’t find where to add the KTN, tap the "Help" or "Contact" section—there’s often a step-by-step guide. Alternatively, the website’s FAQ covers KTN entry in detail.
What About Other Trusted Traveler Programs?
Frontier accepts KTNs from TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, NEXUS, and SENTRI. All four programs issue a Known Traveler Number that works for TSA PreCheck eligibility on domestic flights. If you’re enrolled in any of these, enter the number in the same field.
If you’re not yet enrolled, you can apply for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry online. The application includes a background check and an in-person interview. Once approved, you’ll receive your KTN, which you can then add to your Frontier reservation.
For more on the application process, including how to scan a passport for the application, check the TSA’s official site. Enrollment centers are located at many U.S. airports.
Final Tips
Always double-check that your name on the reservation matches your government ID exactly. A mismatch can cause your KTN to be ignored, even if it’s entered correctly. If you’ve recently changed your name, update your TSA profile and your Frontier account before adding the KTN.
TSA PreCheck is not guaranteed on every flight. It depends on the airline, airport, and whether the flight is eligible. Frontier participates in TSA PreCheck, but you may still be randomly selected for standard screening, especially on less common routes.
If you’re booking a flight for someone else and need to add your known traveler number to an existing reservation, you can do that through Manage Trip as long as you have their confirmation code and last name. You don’t need to be signed in to their account.
Adding your KTN takes less than two minutes once you know where to go. Skip the account settings entirely—head straight to Manage Trip or My Trips, update the traveler details, save, and you’re done. Your boarding pass will show the TSA PreCheck indicator.
If you’re planning a trip soon and want to take a holiday and help change lives, consider booking with a travel credit card that includes Global Entry or TSA PreCheck as a statement credit. Many premium cards offer this perk, which can offset the application fee.
Frontier’s system is straightforward once you know the right menu: Manage Trip, not account settings. My Trips, not profile. That’s where your KTN belongs.
Safe travels.
