Part of our Cambodia guide.
The seven places listed here—Ta Prohm, Bayon Temple, the Cambodian Floating Village, Kampot Pepper Farm, Siem Reap's Cultural Center, Angkor Thom's Dawn Entry, and the Angkor Thom Elephant Gate Trek—are major tourist attractions in the Angkor/Siem Reap area, not hidden gems. Cambodia's true hidden gems lie elsewhere: lesser-visited temples, small towns, islands, and forested regions outside the main Angkor/Phnom Penh/Sihanoukville circuit, such as Koh Ker, Preah Khan of Kampong Svay, Sambor Prei Kuk, Banteay Chhmar, Kratie/Koh Trong, Battambang, Kampot, Koh Rong Samloem, Koh Ta Kiev, and the Cardamom Mountains.

Ta Prohm: The Real-Life 'Tomb Raider' Temple
Ta Prohm, part of the Angkor Wat complex, is famous for its massive trees and roots growing over the ruins. Unlike other temples in the area, Ta Prohm has been left in much the same condition as it was found, creating a unique blend of nature and history.
Bayon Temple Stone Faces
Located in Cambodia's Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple features over 200 massive stone faces. Built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, the faces are believed to represent Avalokiteshvara, a Buddhist deity, though others think they depict the king himself.
The Cambodian Floating Village
In a Cambodian floating village, residents rely on fishing, farming, and trading. Schools, markets, and even temples float alongside homes, creating a self-sufficient society. Visiting one offers insight into a lifestyle adapted to the rhythms of nature.
Kampot Pepper Farm In Cambodia
Kampot pepper farms are nestled in the countryside, where the region's climate and soil create perfect conditions for growing some of the world's finest pepper. Visiting a Kampot pepper farm means experiencing the history and culture behind this prized spice. Kampot, a serene province in Cambodia, is famous for its world-renowned pepper.
Siem Reap's Cultural Center
Hidden dance venues in Siem Reap offer a glimpse into Cambodia's rich traditions. While many tourists flock to Angkor Wat, these lesser-known spots showcase traditional Apsara dance, folk performances, and contemporary styles in intimate settings away from the usual crowds.
Angkor Thom's Dawn Entry
As the sun rises at Angkor Thom, the stone faces of Bayon Temple glow. Early morning visits mean fewer crowds, cooler temperatures, and morning mist that adds a mystical touch to photos. Visiting at dawn offers an experience you won't get later in the day.
The Angkor Thom Elephant Gate Trek
The Angkor Thom Elephant Gate, adorned with intricate carvings, offers a glimpse into the history of the Khmer Empire. Walking through the gate, you can almost hear the echoes of the past, with elephants once parading through these very arches. Angkor Thom, the last great capital of the Khmer Empire, houses this magnificent entrance.
