How To Get A Turkish Passport
A Turkish passport is obtained by first becoming a Turkish citizen. Citizenship can be acquired through birth (if at least one parent is Turkish), naturalization (residing in Turkey for at least five years without interruption), marriage to a Turkish citizen (with at least three years of marriage), or investment (such as purchasing real estate worth at least $400,000 or creating at least 50 jobs). Once you hold a Turkish citizenship certificate, you apply for a passport at a district governor’s office or a Turkish consulate abroad. The standard passport (burgundy cover) costs 1,890 Turkish lira (as of 2024) and is valid for ten years for adults. Processing takes approximately seven to ten working days.
How To Get From Sabiha Gokcen To Istanbul Airport And Vice Versa
Sabiha Gokcen Airport (SAW) is on the Asian side of Istanbul; Istanbul Airport (IST) is on the European side. The distance between the two airports is approximately 45 kilometers. The fastest option is the Havaist shuttle bus, which runs 24 hours a day and costs around 200 Turkish lira (as of 2024); travel time is 60–90 minutes depending on traffic. Alternatively, you can take a taxi, which costs roughly 600–800 Turkish lira and takes 45–75 minutes. For a cheaper but longer route, take the E-10 or E-11 municipal bus from Sabiha Gokcen to Kadıköy, then the Marmaray train to Yenikapı, then another shuttle to Istanbul Airport—total time about two hours, total cost under 100 Turkish lira. No direct metro line connects the two airports as of 2024.
How Long It Takes To Get Turkish Visa If I Have A Usa Travel Document
If you hold a US travel document (such as a Refugee Travel Document, Form I-571, or an Alien’s Passport, Form I-571), you must apply for a Turkish visa at a Turkish embassy or consulate—you cannot use the e-Visa system. Processing time is typically 10 to 15 business days from the date of application, though it may take longer during peak seasons. You will need to submit your original US travel document, a completed visa application form, two passport-sized photos, a copy of your flight itinerary, and proof of accommodation. The visa fee is $60 (as of 2024) for a single-entry visa valid for up to 30 days. Apply at least three weeks before your planned travel to allow for any delays.
